Genesis 22 is on my mind today. That’s the story of when God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his son, in order to test his faith, and at last minute God halted the deal and provided a ram to sacrifice instead. What is the cost of obedience? Is God asking you to do something that requires unthinkable sacrifice? If we are to truly love and follow God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30), then sometimes sacrifice is required. To truly obey Him means that regardless of our circumstances, we need to trust that He really does have our best interested in mind. In that kind of obedience, hindsight always reveals that God’s glorious hand was on our situation the entire time. What is it that God’s asking you to do today? Pray for a deeper understanding today of true obedience.
